Jin W. Chang

CEO & Co-Founder at FieldGuide

Jin W. Chang is the CEO and co-founder of FieldGuide. Prior to FieldGuide, they were the chief of staff at Atrium and the CEO and cofounder of Bitbutter API. Jin has also worked as an investor for ZZ Ventures.

Chang began their career as an engineer before moving into the world of startups. Jin was drawn to startups because of their fast-paced environment and the opportunity to wear many hats. Their experience in both engineering and startups led him to Atrium, where they served as chief of staff to the CEO.

Atrium was a legal technology company that aimed to disrupt the $160B corporate legal market. Chang led company-wide, cross-functional programs and helped the company raise $75M from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Y Combinator, and Greylock.

In 2017, Chang cofounded Bitbutter API, a blockchain aggregation API that enables developers to build cryptocurrency fintech apps. The company was based in San Francisco and backed by UC Berkeley’s SkyDeck Fund. Chang pivoted the company from Lydia Tax, a “TurboTax for cryptocurrency”, to Bitbutter after realizing that an aggregation API could enable mass adoption of cryptocurrencies by accelerating creation of crypto fintech apps.

Chang is also an investor and has worked with ZZ Ventures.

Jin W. Chang attended the University of Southern California for their BS and then went on to the University of California, Berkeley for their MBA. Jin is now a part of the startup accelerator, Y Combinator.
