Arafat Jamal is a UNHCR Representative currently focused on stabilizing and anchoring refugee returns to Afghanistan. With over thirty years of international experience, Arafat has directed multilateral action and led operations addressing conflict and climate crises. Arafat’s extensive background includes leadership roles at UNHCR, where they coordinated inter-agency services and facilitated partnerships, as well as serving as the Head of the Regional Resettlement Hub for the Middle East and North Africa. They hold a Master's degree in Forced Migration from the University of Oxford and have contributed as an Advisory Board Member for the Afghan Women’s Football Advisory Group with FIFA. Currently, Arafat is also an elected member of the governing board at the International School of Geneva, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission and effective operations.
