Layla Yousef

Egyptian National Women's Football Player

Layla Yousef is a multifaceted professional currently serving as the Vice President of the Student Government Association at Berkeley Law and as a Research Assistant, where key responsibilities include drafting a bench memorandum on Vietnam's compliance with the UNCRPD. Layla is also the Editor in Chief of the Berkeley Law Journal of Middle Eastern and Islamic Law and holds the role of Assistant to the Chair of the UN CRPD Working Group at the United Nations. In addition, Layla is an accomplished athlete, representing Egypt as a national women's football player while coaching younger teams. Previous experience includes significant roles in legal dispute resolution at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where extensive sanctions screenings and pro bono work were conducted. Layla also interned in several capacities at the United States Senate and Johns Hopkins University, contributing to foreign policy research and cybersecurity analysis. Layla holds a JD from the University of California, Berkeley, and degrees in International Studies and Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
