Steve Kelly began their career in 1990 as a Systems Engineer at IBM, working on custom software projects in C for Boeing on OS/2. In 1992, they joined ProTools, where they worked on a distributed SNMP based network monitoring system in C++. In 1995, they were one of three founding engineers at Kaspia Systems, where they worked as a Principal Software Engineer and Group Program Manager. In 2006, they joined Pure Networks, now Cisco Systems, as a Sr. Software Engineer and Sr. Product Marketing Manager. In 2011, they joined Intego Inc. as Vice President Software Engineering and General Manager, where they reformed engineering processes and engaged in a number of efforts to position the core technology in different ways. In 2019, they became Vice President of Engineering at Finagraph.
Steve Kelly attended the University of Washington from 1985 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
