John Carty has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. John started their career as a laborer and steadily climbed the ranks to become a foreman, site manager, and sub-agent in construction companies such as Carty Construction, J & J Fee, and AF Budge. During their time in the construction industry, they worked on projects ranging from private house refurbishments to civil engineering contracts.
In 1992, John ventured into entrepreneurship and ran a small local advertising business in Dublin. In this role, they managed all aspects of the business, including sales, customer servicing, debt collection, design, printing, and delivery.
John later transitioned to the technology sector, working as an Application Support Engineer and Business Development professional at Acsis Technologies. John resolved COBOL Development product issues and managed the MERANT INTERSOLV product portfolio.
Moving forward, John gained valuable experience in the banking industry as a Debit Cards Application Developer, Business Analyst, Configuration Management Manager, Configuration Engineer, and Test Analyst at The Royal Bank of Scotland. Here, they designed, tested, and implemented solutions for the Debit Cards Issuing system and played a key role in the integration of Ulster Bank and NatWest on RBS systems, conducting extensive testing and coordination.
In 2012, John joined Capita as a Test Analyst, where they analyzed requirements, designed test cases, executed tests, and signed off on test completion for various life assurance and investment brands. John also tested and signed-off warranty fixes.
Prior to their role at Capita, John took paternity breaks and extended paternity leave to prioritize their family.
John's most recent position was as a Test Engineer at FINEOS, a global market leader in insurance technology. Here, they worked with top insurance carriers and government organizations, contributing to their core insurance systems.

John Carty attended Trinity College Dublin from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in System Information with Honors in the field of Information Systems & Technology. John also attended FAS, Finglas from 1997 to 1998, where they obtained City & Guilds Programming certification in various programming languages such as COBOL, C, C++, VB, and QBasic. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1983, they studied Business Studies and earned a Diploma in Business Studies from Technological University Dublin. In addition to their formal education, John Carty has obtained several certifications, including Bsc.Syst.Inf.(Hons) from Trinity College, Dublin, a Foundation Certificate in Software Testing from the Information Systems Examinations Board & International Software Testing Qualifications Board, an IT Certificate in Computer Programming from City & Guilds, and MBCS CITP from the British Computer Society. John also received a PVCS Administration certification from Merant University.
