In 1974 Ed Whitelaw founded ECONorthwest. Today, ECONW is the Pacific Northwest’s largest and most respected economic consulting firm with offices in Portland, Seattle, Eugene and Boise. In late 2016, he left ECONW to found and run FION. The two firms share office space in Eugene and work closely together.

Pigou’s principles from his classic 1920 paragraph on externalities that has become doctrine in practically every basic economics textbook in the world. We offer pro bono work occasionally, and selects such projects carefully.
