John R. Ellis

John R. Ellis serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, dedicated to safeguarding free speech and thought. With over two decades of experience in technology and entrepreneurship, John co-founded the big data advertising network Turn, leading it to a successful acquisition by Singtel for $310 million. Prior roles include Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations at AltaVista, where significant improvements in search relevance were achieved, and extensive consulting engagements with early-stage technology companies. John holds a PhD and MS in Computer Science from Yale University and a BSE from Princeton University.
