Varun Paul

Varun Paul has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Varun is currently the CBDC and Market Infrastructure Director at Fireblocks since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the Bank of England for several years. At the Bank of England, they held various roles including Head of the Fintech Hub from February 2021 to April 2022, Senior Manager, Future of Finance from September 2018 to February 2021, and Head of Projects and Fintech, Financial Stability from June 2016 to September 2018. Varun also served as a Senior Economist in the Financial Stability division from September 2015 to June 2016. Before that, they were a Private Secretary to the Executive Director for Financial Stability at the Bank of England, supporting various senior executives from September 2012 to September 2015. Varun started their career as a UK Trade Economist at the Bank of England from September 2008 to July 2011. Prior to joining the Bank of England, Varun worked as a Gap Year Associate at PwC from September 2003 to March 2004.

Varun Paul attended the Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood from 1998 to 2003. Varun then pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge, which they completed from 2004 to 2007. Following that, Varun went on to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics from UCL, completing it from 2007 to 2008.
