John Cornthwait

John Cornthwait has over 20 years of experience in the field of web design and development. John started their career in 1999 as an E-Commerce Specialist at Orvis. In 2004, they became Webmaster at the City of Roanoke, VA. In 2008, they joined Carilion Clinic as a Web Designer. From 2019 to 2021, they were an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Virginia Western Community College. In 2021, they became an Adjunct Instructor at Virginia Tech College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, teaching ART3574 (Topics in Graphic Design) and ART4504 (Web Design and Interaction). In 2020, they were appointed Executive Board Member and Board Member at Restoration Housing. Since 2012, they have been Partner + Vice President of Products and Partner + Director of Products at Firefli. John is also a Member of the Roanoke Arts Commission since 2022.

John Cornthwait obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Roanoke College between 2001 and 2004. John then went on to earn a Master of Science in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management, with a User Experience Design concentration, from Kent State University between 2016 and 2018. In addition, they have obtained certifications from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (CPACC) in 2022, Google (Google Analytics Individual Qualification) in 2021, and Google (Mobile Sites Certification) in 2017.
