Firefly is a nonprofit organization providing public health, early childhood, and family support services to women, children, and families across 27 counties in Southwest Iowa.

Our mission is to help parents become their child’s first and most influential teacher by providing education, support, and resources that strengthen families and promote lifelong wellness. Based on the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus in Council Bluffs, Iowa, we serve both urban and rural communities through home visits, community-based programs, and partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, shelters, and other local organizations.

Through programs focused on healthy pregnancies, child development, oral health, literacy, and family well-being, Firefly works to ensure that every child has the opportunity to enter school healthy, safe, and ready to learn.

At Firefly, we believe every person carries a unique inner light. When that light begins to dim, we walk alongside families to help rekindle their spark so they can thrive in parenthood, health, and community.
