Chris Kelly

CTO at FireHydrant

Chris Kelly is the current CTO at FireHydrant. Prior to joining FireHydrant, Chris served as the Director of Open Source and Engineering Enablement at Salesforce from February 2018 to July 2021. Chris was responsible for driving initiatives that expand open source participation, strategy, and tools within Salesforce. Chris also led technical transformation efforts throughout the Technology and Product organizations through the Office of the CTO. Chris enabled the technology organization to participate in the developer community through writing, speaking, and open source programs.

Before joining Salesforce, Chris served as the Director of Community at GitHub from March 2014 to June 2017. At GitHub, Chris led multiple teams focused on community, open source, and events. Chris was responsible for the strategic leadership–including vision, brand, messaging, content, keynotes–for all GitHub produced conferences. Chris created GitHub Universe & Satellite, relaunched CodeConf and Git Merge. Chris also cofounded TODO Group, part of the Linux Foundation, alongside Facebook, Google, and Twitter open source offices to increase collaboration of corporate open source programs which now has over 90 member companies.

Prior to joining GitHub, Chris served as the Director of Developer Relations at New Relic from May 2012 to February 2014.

Chris Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Chris then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Philosophy & Ethics from Biola University.
