Fireweed AI is an Indigenous-led technology startup rootedhttps://www.linkedin.com/messaging/? in the North, dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Indigenous languages and knowledge through ethical innovation.

Across Canada and the world, Indigenous languages and histories face rapid decline — while mainstream AI systems continue to overlook them. Fireweed AI bridges this gap by developing community-controlled language models, translation tools, and data governance systems that uphold sovereignty, cultural integrity, and accessibility.

Our approach combines modern AI research with traditional knowledge systems. Guided by an Advisory Council of Indigenous leaders, language experts, and community representatives, we ensure that technology is shaped with communities, not imposed on them.

Fireweed AI’s mission is simple: empower Indigenous Nations to own their data, preserve their languages, and build prosperity through culture.
