Gareth Howell

Gareth Howell is an experienced financial and underwriting leader with a strong background in the insurance industry. Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Underwriting Officer at First Central since October 2019, Gareth is responsible for the underwriting and pricing strategy, as well as the commercial P&L of the insurance business. Prior to this role, Gareth held various executive positions at AXA, including Executive Managing Director, where responsibilities included full P&L and operational ownership of AXA Insurance’s direct and personal intermediary businesses. Gareth's career also includes significant roles at Zurich Financial Services, focusing on personal lines, pricing, and product management. Gareth is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, with a degree in Maths and Economics from the University of Exeter.
