Mike McFarlane

Mike McFarlane is an accomplished technology and finance professional with extensive experience in FinOps and cloud engineering. Currently serving as the FinOps Lead at 1st Central since September 2025, Mike previously held the same position at Tesco Bank from April 2018 to August 2025, where responsibilities included FinOps strategy, collaboration with stakeholders, and team mentoring. Prior roles include Senior Cloud Engineer at Tesco Bank, DevSecOps and Deep Learning Infrastructure Engineer at iProov, and Core Engineer at Cloudreach, among others. Mike co-founded robotguide, a personal robotics startup, and operated a successful landscape photography business. Mike's educational background includes an MSc in Mechatronics and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Abertay University.
