Team Phoenix’s journey has been quite a remarkable one. We started out during the 2006-2007 season at Daniel Webster College. However, fate took a turn when the college shut down, forcing us to find a new home. Fortunately, ASD offered us a space to continue our pursuits. What makes our team truly unique is our dedication to inclusivity – we welcome students from all backgrounds, not limited to any specific school. To address the issue of liability insurance, we made the decision to become a 4-H club through the 4-H Cooperative Extension program, which provided us with the necessary coverage. Through this, our team became a 501(c)(3), 4-H, nonprofit organization. Remaining an independent team is of paramount importance to us, as it allows us to nurture a one-of-a-kind student population, setting us apart from others. Yet, this independence comes with its own set of challenges, including the constant effort to recruit new students each year and the loss of experienced seniors who have been an integral part of our team. Our journey is a testament to our adaptability and our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive community of learners.
