Matthew Eby

Founder and CEO at First Street Foundation

Matthew Eby is the Founder and CEO of First Street Foundation, a research and technology nonprofit that focuses on defining America's climate risk. As the CEO, they have led the development of flood, wildfire, and extreme heat models, based on peer-reviewed research, to calculate climate risk for every property in the contiguous United States. Matthew also created the consumer-facing website Risk Factor to present this data to the public.

Prior to founding First Street Foundation, Matthew Eby was the Founder of Anthro, a digital marketing agency that serviced non-profit clients. Matthew started Anthro in 2015 and left in 2018.

Matthew Eby has also worked at The Weather Channel, where they served as the SVP Consumer and Brand Marketing from 2014 to 2015, and as the VP Marketing for the Digital Division from 2012 to 2014. In these roles, they led the repositioning of the brand portfolio and the development of the brand idea "It's Amazing Out There."

Before that, Matthew Eby worked at BlackBerry, where they held various roles, including Director of Marketing, EMEA and Director of Operations & Strategic Projects - Integrated Marketing. Matthew was responsible for budget allocation, competitive analysis, and driving the transformational change towards integrated marketing.

Overall, Matthew Eby has a background in marketing, with a focus on digital and integrated marketing strategies. Matthew is currently leading First Street Foundation in their mission to address climate risk in the United States.

Matthew Eby obtained an Honours B. Com degree in Business Commerce from McMaster University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Subsequently, they pursued further education at McMaster University, earning an MBA degree with a specialization in Marketing from 2008 to 2009.
