Rob Short is an advisor and investor in tech and social enterprises. They previously served as Corporate Vice President, Windows Core Technology at Microsoft from 1988 to 2007. They were a founding partner and investor at Creative Destruction Lab Seattle from 2021 to 2025 and have invested through Self Employed since 2008. They earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington (1984–1986) and are pursuing Electronics at Munster Technological University, with governance roles including chairing the board at FIRST Washington in 2025 and serving on the Board of Trustees for First Washington Robotics (2018–2025).
