Data Engineer

About the role

Firstbase.io is hiring a Data Engineer to work in tandem with the Product Managers, Engineers and Business to shape the future of Firstbase’s products and data. You’ll thrive in this role if you have experience building relationships with and influencing cross-functional team members, delivering high quality projects on time, and analyzing data to produce actionable recommendations.

Top candidates for this position will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support our software developers, data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

Who are we looking for

We are looking for risk-takers with diverse experience able to provide fearless feedback.

You will have the following duties

• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

You should meet the following requirements

• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra/Mongo(Optional).
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, PHP, C, etc.
• We are looking for a candidate with 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
