Luis Barreto

Luis Barreto has over 25 years of work experience in engineering and product management. Luis began their career in 1995 as an Engenheiro Electrotécnico at Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira. In 1998, they moved to Rohde & Schwarz as a Software Lead Engineer, where they developed and integrated 3G embedded real-time protocol software. In 2001, they joined Nokia as a Principal Engineer and Manager, where they were a team lead for research and standards experts, and implemented an IPR growth program. In 2010, they became a Senior Manager and R&D at Renesas Mobile Corporation, where they managed the portfolio for modem software and established and operated OPEX management process. In 2013, they joined Broadcom as an Associate Technical Director. In 2015, they became a Product Director at Neul, where they managed the product and roadmap for mixed signal SoCs and related middleware platform for IoT systems. In 2017, they joined Five AI as a Senior Engineering Director and then Engineering Director.

Luis Barreto's education history includes a MSc in Control Technology from the University of Portsmouth, which they completed in 1998. This degree focused on Control Technology, C++, Maths, Telecommunications and Electronics. Luis also completed a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Portsmouth in 1995, which focused on Control Systems, Electronics, C++ and Telecommunications. In addition, they obtained a Bacharelato em Engenharia Electrotécnica from Universidade de Coimbra in 1995, which focused on Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, CAD, Maths, Physics and C programming. Luis also holds a Prince 2 certification.
