Marvin Jones

Principal Software Engineer at Five

Marvin Jones has over twenty years of professional experience in the software engineering and mathematics fields. From 1999 to 2000, they were a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. Marvin then moved to New York University, where they were a Post-Doctoral Research Associate from 2000 to 2003. After that, they worked at the DAMTP Centre for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from 2003 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, they were a Roberts Fellow at the School of Mathematics, University of Southampton, where they developed and delivered undergraduate courses, organized seminars, and participated in outreach activities. In 2010, they joined Siemens Industry Software as a Software Engineer and worked there until 2014. Marvin then moved to SunGard Financial Systems, where they were the APT Analytics Development Team Lead and Scrum Master from 2014 to 2015. Finally, they joined Five AI in 2018, where they are currently the Principal Software Engineer and Lead Software Engineer. In this role, they are responsible for integrating multiple sensory data streams to form a navigable representation of the scene around the vehicle, as well as consulting on various technical topics.

Marvin Jones attended Cavendish Secondary School from 1984 to 1991. From 1991 to 1992, they studied Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. From 1993 to 1999, they completed a BSc and PhD in Mathematics at UCL.
