Chief Information Security Officer at Fivetran

Tom Conklin is currently the Chief Information Security Officer at Fivetran. Prior to this, they worked as an advisor at Druva from May 2018 to April 2021, where they were responsible for all aspects of Vera's Security, Compliance, Privacy, and Risk Management programs.

Conklin has a wealth of experience in securing both externally facing customer environments and internal corporate systems. Tom built the Security Program from the ground up for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and Privacy Shield, and they oversee a program that is built around 5 key pillars: Product Security, Infrastructure Security, Corporate Security, Field Security, and Compliance.

As a subject matter expert, Conklin is responsible for leading Vera's application security roadmap. Tom also runs Vera's vulnerability testing and management program, and they have implemented intrusion detection, web application firewalls, and system monitoring tools. In addition, Conklin is responsible for running Vera's risk assessment and risk treatment process, which includes managing vulnerability management, penetration testing, vendor management, and remediation programs.

Conklin also leads the Security and Risk board that consist of CEO and the executive team members. In addition, they lead Field Security program with Sales and Customer Success. Tom is the primary security point of contact for on-boarding high-profile customers.

Tom Conklin studied business administration, finance, and management of information systems at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Tom earned their BS from the school.

They work with Jim Smittkamp - Chief Revenue Officer, Taylor Brown - COO & co-Founder, and Mike Boyarski - CMO. Their manager is George Fraser, CEO & co-Founder.
