Marc Engels

COO at Flanders Make

Marc Engels has extensive work experience in various research and leadership roles. Marc has served as the COO - Operations Manager at Flanders Make since 2014, where they are responsible for research projects and infrastructure management. Prior to this, Marc was the Director of Innovatie en incubatiecentrum Leuven since 2008. Marc also served as a Member of the Advisory Board at Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, Marc has held positions as a Guest Professor at Advanced Learning and Research Institute, ALaRI from 2000 to 2017, and at KU Leuven from 2001 to 2007. Marc was previously the General Manager of FMTC, overseeing research on mechatronics, and the Director of Servicio cvba. Marc also co-founded LoraNet and worked at IMEC as the Director (Wireless) Telecom Department and Head of the telecom group. Marc began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at KU Leuven, involved in various telecom projects.

Marc Engels attended Sint Jan Berchmanscollege in Antwerpen from 1977 to 1983, where they obtained a degree in Humaniora with a field of study in Latin - Mathematics. Marc then went on to study at KU Leuven from 1983 to 1988, earning an Engineer's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Finally, Marc pursued a PhD in Electronics at KU Leuven from 1988 to 1993.
