Joseph Votel serves as the Chair of the Combating Terrorism Center at the United States Military Academy at West Point since July 2019 and also advises the Center's Director. Votel currently holds positions as an Independent Board Director at AeroVironment, a Member of the Board of Directors at Helix Decision Science and the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, and serves as a Strategic Advisor at Sierra Nevada Corporation. Additional roles include Non-Resident Distinguished Fellow at the Middle East Institute, a Member of the Board of Trustees at Noblis, and a Member of the Board of Directors at Minnesota Wire. Votel also acts as a Consultant for Flatter, Inc., and has recently completed a tenure as President and CEO of Business Executives for National Security. Votel's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and two master's degrees—one in National Security Studies from the US Army War College and the other in Military Art and Science from the US Army Command and General Staff College.
