Software Integration Engineer at FlexGen

Pierce Whelan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Pierce recently joined FlexGen as a Software Integration Engineer, where they assist in developing configurations for energy storage systems. Prior to this, Pierce worked as an RF Testing Engineer at Amphenol Broadband Solutions, performing testing of broadband products and developing test procedures. Pierce also has experience in the retail sector, having worked at Target as a Fulfillment Expert and at Harris Teeter as an Express Lane operator. Additionally, Pierce worked as a Customer Service Representative at Ubisoft, addressing customer concerns and diagnosing technical issues related to games and software. Pierce also had a brief stint at Verizon as a Software Developer, where they maintained power infrastructures and databases.

Pierce Whelan began their education at Apex High School, attending from 2016 to 2020. During this time, they did not obtain a degree or specialize in a particular field of study. In 2020, they enrolled at North Carolina State University, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Pierce is expected to graduate in 2024.

In addition to their formal education, Pierce has acquired several certifications. In 2019, they obtained the SAS 9 Base Programming Specialist certification from SAS. Pierce further expanded their programming skills by becoming a Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer through the Python Software Foundation in 2018. Pierce also gained proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, earning the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications for PowerPoint 2013 and Word 2013 in 2017.

Pierce demonstrated their commitment to leadership development by participating in the Leadership Development Program offered by NC State Leadership and Civic Engagement in 2021. Furthermore, they acquired the NAFTrack Certification from NAF in 2020, showcasing their expertise in a NAF-approved course of study. Lastly, Pierce obtained the MATLAB Onramp certification from MathWorks in 2023, demonstrating their proficiency in using MATLAB.
