Suman Thakuri

Suman Thakuri has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles.

Starting in 2010, Thakuri worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Louisiana State University, where they conducted studies on cure-on-demand composites and polymers, as well as researched cure-on-demand composite surface coatings.

In 2014, Thakuri joined the US Army as an M1A2 SepV2 Abram Tank Systems Maintenance Specialist. During this time, they supported various missions and served as a maintenance specialist and squad leader. Thakuri's responsibilities included determining the serviceability and dispositions of tanks and heavy tracked recovery vehicles, as well as troubleshooting turbine engine systems, hydraulic/electrical systems, and fire control systems.

In 2018, Thakuri completed the Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship program with Amazon Sort Center as a Reliability & Maintenance Engineer Intern. They analyzed enterprise asset records for material handling equipment at over 20 sort centers, ensuring accuracy. Additionally, Thakuri contacted OEM/vendors to update the availability of technical manuals for equipment, contributing to improved maintenance and reliability processes.

From 2019 to 2022, Thakuri worked at TMEIC as a Field Engineer specializing in drive and control systems. In this role, they commissioned AC and DC drive systems and control systems for various steel industries. Thakuri's key accomplishments included leading the drive commissioning for the US Steel Gary Hot Strip Mill, specifically revamping the furnace, roughing mill, and finishing mill area.

Currently, Thakuri is employed at FlexGen as a Field Operations Support Specialist, a role they began in 2022. Further details about their responsibilities and accomplishments in this position are not provided.

Suman Thakuri completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Chemistry from Grambling State University in 2008. The following year, in 2009, Suman pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University. Suman then obtained a Mechanical Engineer-EIT certification from the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) in September 2013.

In 2022, Suman began pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which is currently ongoing.

In terms of additional certifications, Suman obtained the CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY SPECIALIST certificate from the OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION in May 2013. In February 2019, Suman received the OSHA 10 General Industry certification from OSHA 10 Hour Training. Additionally, Suman completed the Allen Bradley PLC Training - RSLogix 5000 Series from Udemy in June 2019 and obtained the Google Data Analytics Certificate from Coursera in August 2022.
