Crystal Lawes has held various roles in the technology and customer service industries since 2010. In 2010, they were a Customer Service Representative for Marathon Staffing Group. The following year, they were an Administrative Assistant for First Associates. From 2012-2014, they worked as a Diagnostic Psychology Extern at Shapiro Developmental Center, where they composed integrated psychological reports, presented findings, and worked with an interdisciplinary team of social service professionals. In 2014, they became a Home Base Service Facilitator & Day Training/ Vocational Case Manager at CTF Illinois (formerly Southwest Community Services), where they developed an annual service plan, wrote a detailed task analysis, and monitored client progress. In 2018, they were a UX Researcher (Intern) at Amazon. Since 2016, they have been a HCI Graduate Student at DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media. Currently, they are a Lead User Experience Researcher at FBS.
Crystal Lawes obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Northern Illinois University between 2007 and 2010. Crystal then went on to get a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology between 2011 and 2013. In 2014, they obtained two certifications: Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional from the Illinois Department of Health and Human Services, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention. Finally, they earned a Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction from DePaul University between 2016 and 2018.
