Lauren Behar

Lauren Behar is an experienced educator and creative professional with a diverse background in art instruction and children's literature. Currently serving as a Lower School Art Teacher at Rye Country Day School since July 2018, Lauren has previously held positions at various educational institutions, including Parkside School and Washington Heights Academy, where art curricula were designed for children with language-based learning disabilities. As a self-employed children's book illustrator and muralist, Lauren specializes in semi-realistic illustrations and custom murals, transforming children's spaces into imaginative environments. In addition to teaching, Lauren has experience as an inventor with a provisional patent pending and a background in ESL instruction, highlighted by recognition as Teacher of the Year at the Liberty LEADS Center. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in Education from Bank Street College and a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis.
