Marcos Vasconcellos

Marcos Vasconcellos is a multidisciplinary artist and experienced professional with a diverse background in contemporary art and journalism. Since January 1993, Marcos has worked as a freelance artist, focusing on paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations that explore the concept of organic matter, particularly carbon in graphite form and its associated transformations relating to the death of utopias. Prior to this, from November 1977 to December 1984, Marcos served as the art editor for journalism at TV Globo, where responsibilities included graphic design and visual treatment for newspapers and special television programming, along with illustration work as a caricaturist. Academically, Marcos holds a degree in Clinical Medicine from Faculdade de Medicina de Vassouras (1972-1978) and a doctorate in Medicine, specifically in Clinical Medicine and Psychiatry, from Universidade Severino Sombra (1972-1977).
