Michael Brien has extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Michael started their career at Motorola in 1997 and held various roles, including Principal Staff Engineer in New Product Introduction and Customer Support. Michael also worked as a Senior System Engineer and provided GSM customer support. In 2011, they joined Nokia Siemens Networks as a Principal Staff Engineer, where they supported FDD LTE Multinet trials, led LTE proof-of-concept system activities, and provided remote technical support for NSN TDD LTE trials in India. Michael then worked at Actix as a Principal Wireless Consultant and at Amdocs as a Principal RF Consultant. Most recently, they served as a Principal Solutions Engineer at Hologram Inc. and is currently working as a Senior Support Engineer at floLIVE.

Michael Brien obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Imperial College London between 1992 and 1995. Michael then pursued a Master's degree in Communication Systems Engineering at the University of Portsmouth from 1995 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Michael obtained various certifications from LinkedIn in March 2023, including "Introduction to AWS for Non-Engineers: 1 Cloud Concepts," "Learning Kubernetes," "Microservices Foundations," and "Tech on the Go: REST."
