Dan Milano

Director Of Product Development at Flow Science

Dan Milano has worked in the aerospace industry for over a decade. From 2011 to present, they have worked at FLOW-3D, first as Director of Product Development, then as Applications Engineering Manager and Technical Support, and most recently as Senior CFD Engineer. In this role, they were the go-to resource for difficult tasks, organized and led software documentation efforts, and distilled industry research into actionable strategies. Dan also developed and taught applied CFD training courses, developed validation, test, and example simulations, and worked with the software development team to improve FLOW-3D. Prior to FLOW-3D, Dan worked at ATK from 2008 to 2011 as a Performance Analyst and Design Engineer. Dan researched unexplained phenomena in solid rocket motors, developed new theories and techniques, and performed design work to define next-generation solid rocket boosters. From 2007 to 2008, Dan was a Graduate Research Assistant at Colorado State University, where they performed mathematical analyses, computer programming, algorithm development, model validation, and documentation to support research efforts. Dan also co-developed computer software capable of identifying potential combustion stability problems. In 2006, Dan was both an Aerospace Consultant and a Six Sigma Intern at Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies. As Aerospace Consultant, they used specialized software to help clients understand complex phenomena and guide them to practical design solutions. As Six Sigma Intern, they collected data on organizational performance, performed data analysis and interpretation, and developed recommendations on how to improve organizational performance.

Dan Milano obtained a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University in 2006 and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 2008. In 2009, they attended a short course in Combustion Instability: Analysis, Diagnosis, and Corrective Procedures at the University of Tennessee Space Institute.
