Josh Balacky has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as an Analytical Chemist at Merck KGaA in Germany from September 2017 to September 2018. Josh then worked as an Analytical Biochemist at Biolab from June 2019 to March 2020, where they utilized various analytical methods to quantify vitamins, enzymes, and minerals in patient samples. Following this, Josh worked as a Doctoral Researcher at Stockholms universitet from October 2020 to February 2023. Currently, they are serving as a Project Manager at Flower since February 2023, where they coordinate the company's main projects related to optimizing flexible assets and implementing them into the electrical grid.
Josh Balacky attended The London Oratory School from 2008 to 2015, where they studied Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as part of their A levels. From 2015 to 2019, they pursued a Master's of Chemistry (MChem) degree in Chemistry at The University of Sheffield.

Flower operates a Power Refinery - a hardware agnostic platform that connects flexibility assets with buyers of flexibility. We integrate with flexibility assets, collect metering values and can actively manage their power profiles, we prognose available flexibility and decide in which markets and at what price flexibility will be offered. We runprojects within light and heavy EV charging, energy storage, hydropower, solar power and heating. We aim to offer ancillary services and participate in capacity markets. Flower's mission is to drastically increase available flexibility to support the renewable electrification of everything.
