Luke Sugden

Luke Sugden is a seasoned risk management professional with extensive experience in the financial services industry. Currently serving as the Director of Risk & Safer Gambling at Flutter Entertainment Plc since January 2019, Sugden previously held the position of Risk Director at Close Brothers Motor Finance from November 2015 to January 2019. Earlier roles include Head of Risk at NewDay and Santander Cards UK Limited, where Sugden also served as Senior Risk Manager - Acquisition and Risk Manager in various capacities. Sugden's career began at GE Money UK as a Risk Manager - Fraud Strategy, following foundational roles as a Database Analyst and Targeting Analyst at GE Money and Freeserve. Sugden’s early career also includes work as an Actuarial Assistant at Hazell Carr, contributing to significant pension review projects. Educationally, Sugden graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in Maths, specializing in Pure & Applied Maths.
