Erik Smeets

Erik Smeets is a seasoned professional in the financial and investment sectors, currently serving as Manager of Special Operations at FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank since November 2022. Prior to this role, Erik held various positions at FMO Investment Management from August 2015 to November 2022, including Portfolio Manager and Investment Manager, where responsibilities included coordinating activities related to debt funds. Erik's experience also consists of serving as a Senior Investment Officer at FMO from 2007 to August 2015, focusing on client relations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as handling complex transactions with larger clients. Earlier roles include Investment Officer and Credit Analyst at FMO and FGH Bank, respectively. Erik holds a Master's degree in International Economics and Economic Geography from Utrecht University, earned between 1992 and 1997.
