Jeremy Chen

Director of Hardware Engineering at Focal Systems

Jeremy Chen has extensive work experience in hardware engineering. Jeremy is currently serving as the Director of Hardware Engineering at Focal Systems, where they focus on automating and optimizing brick and mortar retail to lower the cost of living and eliminate food waste globally. Prior to Focal Systems, Jeremy worked at Facebook as a Hardware Engineering Manager from December 2019 to March 2023. Before that, they were an iPhone Hardware Engineer Lead at Apple from June 2017 to December 2019. Jeremy also has experience in electronics design engineering, having worked as a Senior Electronics Design Engineer at Texas Microelectronics Corporation from February 2015 to June 2017. Jeremy started their career at Halliburton, where they held various roles, including Technical Professional Electrical/Electronics and Electrical/Electronics Engineer co-op. Additionally, Jeremy gained industry experience as a Power Electronics Design Engineer Intern at Arbin Instruments.

Jeremy Chen's education history begins with their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Zhejiang University, which they obtained from 2008 to 2012. Jeremy then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in the same field at Texas A&M University from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, they also obtained certifications as an Engineer in Training and as a Fundamental Engineer from NCEES.

More recently, in 2018, Jeremy attended Stanford University and is currently pursuing a degree called SCPD in Machine Learning. Additionally, in May 2019, they obtained a certification in Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera.
