Gillian Gordon

Educational Director, 1435 Prospect Place at Friends of Crown Heights

Gillian Gordon is the Educational Director at our 1435 Prospect Place Educational Center. She brings to her position an outstanding portfolio of academic and professional accomplishments, including extensive and diverse experience in both the public and private educational sectors. Her areas of expertise include curriculum planning and development, and instructing students with disabilities.

In addition to her earlier experience as a classroom teacher and special education instructor at the elementary grade level, Ms. Gordon also previously served as Educational Director with the Nelrak Child Development Center in Brooklyn, where her noteworthy achievements included the successful restructuring and implementation of new classroom designs to improve the esthetics and delivery of services, and the creation of new systems to better monitor and analyze child outcomes at both the individual and aggregate levels. Upon joining our Friends of Crown Heights family in 2016, she served as Director of our Staten Island / Stapleton Houses Educational Center before being appointed Educational Director of the Pre-school program at our Kosciuszko Street / Zadie Davis Academy in Brooklyn.

Ms. Gordon obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York, and the Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. She also holds the New York State Teacher Certifications for Birth-2, Grades 1-6, and for Students with Disabilities. She is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and maintains a continuing education interest in Photography, French and Arts in Education.
