Rylan Cates

Rylan Cates has worked in the software engineering field since 2011. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Computer Assistant II at the University of Maine, and as a Technician at Harbor Digital Systems. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Software Engineer and Programmer Analyst I at Unum. In 2016, they worked as a Software Engineer 2b at Garmin International, where they were tasked with working in an agile development process maintaining and improving the technologies powering an adventure GPS/SOS Emergency Rescue device. From 2017 to 2022, they worked as a Senior Software Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer at Maprisk (an Insurity company). Currently, they are a Staff Software Engineer at Forerunner.

Rylan Cates obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Computer Science from The University of Maine at Farmington between 2009 and 2013. Additionally, they have obtained certificates from Coursera, Code School, and other institutions, such as the Algorithmic Toolbox by University of California, San Diego & Higher School of Economics on Coursera (obtained in September 2016).
