Brian Vanderbilt is an experienced leader in geospatial and physical sciences, currently serving as the Director at the U.S. Forest Service since November 2016. In this role, Brian oversees a complex organization with over 60 federal employees and approximately 75 contractors, interns, and resource assistants, managing a variety of programs aligned with the Forest Service Mission. Prior to this position, Brian held key roles including Assistant Director for Geospatial and Remote Sensing Services at USDA and Chief of Geospatial Services at the Department of Defense. Brian's educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Oregon. Currently, Brian is pursuing education at Harvard Kennedy School.
