Caitlin Winterbottom

Botanist at Forest Service

Caitlin Winterbottom is a skilled botanist with extensive experience in ecological research and habitat restoration, currently employed by the USDA Forest Service since April 2024. Previously, Caitlin worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers, focusing on the monitoring and inventory of rare and endangered plants, as well as implementing habitat restoration projects at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Educationally, Caitlin holds a Master of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science & Policy, both from Northern Arizona University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Botany from Humboldt State University. Caitlin's diverse background includes roles as a field biologist, teaching assistant, and research assistant, contributing to various ecological projects and initiatives related to pollination biology and fire ecology. Caitlin has also engaged with community efforts in ecological restoration through the Society for Ecological Restoration and has participated in field expeditions and citizen science initiatives.
