Jim Bacon

Acting Deputy Regional Forester

Jim Bacon is the Acting Deputy Regional Forester at the U.S. Forest Service, bringing 20 years of federal government experience to their role. Currently serving as the Director of Public Services for the Pacific Southwest Region, they oversee public use and access to 18 National Forests in California. Jim previously held the position of Park Superintendent with the National Park Service and has worked on various projects at Yosemite National Park. Additionally, Jim served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, focusing on sustainable ecotourism and environmental education. They hold a Master of Science Degree in Natural Resource Planning from the University of Vermont.
