Phil Rodbell

Phil Rodbell is a seasoned professional in urban forestry and sustainability, with extensive experience spanning over three decades. As the retired National Program Lead for Urban Sustainability Research at the U.S. Forest Service, Phil supported a network of over 50 scientists focused on the impacts of trees and forests in urban settings. Previous roles included Deputy Director of Forests and Equity at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and State Urban Forestry Program Coordinator at the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Phil's career also involved significant contributions as a Community Assistance Forester in Washington State, Urban Forester with American Forests, and a consulting arborist. Phil began his career in the Peace Corps as an agroforester and city forester in Honduras, engaging with rural communities to enhance their agricultural practices. Phil holds a Master of Science in Forest Resources from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor's degree in Forest Management from the University of Washington.
