Edmond Cheung

Edmond Cheung has over 15 years of work experience in various roles and positions. Edmond started their career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008 and later became a Graduate Student Researcher. During their time there, they worked on research projects and gained expertise in their field.

In 2014, Edmond joined the University of Tokyo as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Edmond led a team of international scientists and contributed to the discovery of a new class of galaxies, which was published in the prestigious journal Nature.

In 2017, Edmond transitioned into the industry and joined RaiseMe as a Data Scientist. Edmond was involved in developing a model to predict college acceptance probabilities and implemented it into production using XGBoost, Flask, Docker, and AWS. Edmond Cheung has a strong educational background in both astronomy/astrophysics and engineering physics/applied physics. Edmond obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Columbia University in 2008. Edmond then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, graduating in 2014.
