FormatEx is a LaTeX platform built for developers and teams.

It combines three things no single tool has offered together: a modern browser-based collaborative editor, a production-grade REST API for programmatic PDF generation (pdflatex, xelatex, lualatex, latexmk), and an AI assistant that fixes errors, explains compilation output, and generates LaTeX from plain English.

Smart Compile — the platform's standout feature — automatically detects the correct engine from the document preamble and fixes LLM-generated LaTeX errors before they reach end users. Purpose-built for teams building AI applications that output LaTeX, document automation pipelines, and researchers who need Overleaf's experience with an API attached.

Free tier available. No credit card required.
