Dr. Thomas Fries

Dr. Thomas Fries has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and industries. Dr. Thomas currently holds the position of Vice President and General Manager of the Emerging Growth Business Unit at FormFactor Inc., where they previously served as Vice President of the same unit. Prior to joining FormFactor Inc., Dr. Fries was a Supervisory Board Member at Plan Optik AG, a leading manufacturer of structured wafers used in various industries. Dr. Thomas also served as the CEO of FRT GmbH, a global supplier of 3D surface metrology systems, for nearly three decades. Dr. Fries has been involved in advisory and board positions at IVAM Microtechnology Network, COST Action IC1106, and COPT.NRW e.V. Dr. Thomas began their career as the Head of Department at Günther Systemtechnik GmbH. Dr. Thomas Fries possesses extensive expertise in the fields of emerging technologies, metrology measurement, and microtechnology.

Dr. Thomas Fries earned a PhD in Physics from The University of Bonn between 1989 and 1991. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Physics from Universität des Saarlandes from 1981 to 1988.
