Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer at FormFactor

Gideon Ukpai has a diverse work experience spanning from 2012 to present. Gideon started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at BHP Engineering & Construction, L.P., where they assisted in the design and implementation of Gas Lift for offshore oil wells. Gideon then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Louisiana Tech University IfM, where they designed and fabricated solar thermal devices for harnessing solar thermal energy.

After that, Gideon joined Audubon Companies as an Associate Mechanical Engineer, working on onshore and offshore oil and gas projects. Their responsibilities included tasks such as piping system design, PSV sizing, and pipe stress analysis.

In 2016, Gideon worked as a Front End Maintenance Intern at Graphic Packaging International, Inc. and as a Graduate Student at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, they focused on 3D bioprinting and cryoprinting, developing mathematical models, designing experimental devices, and optimizing printing techniques for biological matter and tissue engineering.

Currently, Gideon holds the position of Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer at FormFactor Inc., where they utilize their expertise in mechanical design.

Gideon Ukpai earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University from 2010 to 2014. Gideon then pursued a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016 to 2018. Following that, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley from 2016 to 2020.
