Tristan Sterk

Tristan Sterk is a seasoned architect and educator, currently serving as the Founder of Formsolver since January 2021, focusing on simplifying sustainable design. With a distinguished tenure at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from September 2008 to October 2024, Sterk has held various academic positions, including Chair of Architecture and Interior Architecture and Associate Professor of the Intelligent Environment. Prior experience includes founding ORAMBRA, where Sterk was a pioneering force in structural shape change and sensing technologies for buildings, and contributing as Project Manager/Senior Designer at Perkins&Will and as a Designer/Senior Designer at Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP. Sterk's educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Design with Emerging Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Adelaide.
