Lukas Lercher has a diverse work history in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry. Lukas is currently serving as the Head of Functional Characterization at Formycon AG, a position they started in December 2021. From 2017 to 2021, Lukas worked at Proteros biostructures GmbH, where they held the positions of Associate Director Discovery Projects and Research Scientist in Assays, Biophysics & Screening. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at EMBL / Leibniz University Hannover from 2014 to 2017. Lukas began their career as a Graduate Student at the University of Oxford, where they worked on chemical approaches to epigenetics from 2010 to 2014. Lukas also has experience as a Research Scientist at the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) in 2013, a Research Scientist at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in 2010, a Master Thesis Student at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München in 2009, a Student Worker at The Scripps Research Institute in 2008, and held various roles as a Student Worker and Bachelor Thesis Student at LMU München in 2007.
Lukas Lercher completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2004 to 2007, they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry. Lukas then pursued further studies at the same institution from 2007 to 2009, obtaining a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biochemistry. Finally, from 2010 to 2014, they attended the University of Oxford, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
