Daniel Markert has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Daniel is currently the VP Risk Management Operations at FortressFire, where they are responsible for building business operations and data-driven field services for wildfire risk assessments and protection. Daniel works closely with software engineering and machine learning teams for product development and deployment. Prior to this, Markert worked at the California Military Department as the Director Joint Interagency Coordination Group, where they provided military support to civil authorities during emergencies and disaster response. Daniel also served as the Director of Operations and Strategic Policy Officer at the same organization. Daniel Markert has a diverse education history. Daniel attended Claremont McKenna College from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in International Relations. In 2009, they pursued further education at Trident University International and completed a Master of Science degree in Emergency and Disaster Management in 2010. In 2019, Daniel attended the USAF Air War College, where they studied Military Strategic Studies Airpower and earned a graduate degree in the same field in 2020.
In addition to their formal education, Daniel has also obtained several certifications. In 2012, they became a TACFIT Field Instructor through RMAX International, a training and fitness organization. In 2013, they acquired the Homeland Security Exercise Planner certification from the US Department of Homeland Security. The same year, they also gained the TACFIT Athlete Development certification from RMAX International. In 2014, Daniel earned the Mindful Resilience for Trauma Recovery Level 1 certification from the Veterans Yoga Project. Finally, in 2016, they became a Clubbell Athletics Instructor, again through RMAX International.
