Fotograf is a programme of photography in East Africa, created and led by established photographer, Julian Claxton. Originating in 2015, Fotograf has been running free to attend workshops in Uganda for over seven years, working with young people from deprived backgrounds, providing extracurricular workshops, utilising recycled camera equipment.

The project delivers an uplifting, interesting and fun educational programme, which enables young people to create outstanding photographic work, tell their own personal stories, as well as offering the opportunity to continue their learning and education in photography and the arts. Direct benefits to the participants include and by no way limited to, building confidence, encouragement of independent thinking and development to create imagery. The upskilling of the young people is a key element, as well as the opportunity to exhibit images and finish the project with an album of work, whilst motivating the young people to raise their aspirations.
