We want to empower patients by generating tools that allow them to own their medical data in order to generate health outcomes.

Our name stems from an exceptional day: 29 February, the International Rare Disease Day.

Our origin:  the energy we share. Because we are a group of people who are linked in different ways due to these rare diseases.
We want to capitalize on the exceptional value of patient data.

We believe we are still far away, as a society, to leverage all the potential of our patients’ data.

That is why we want to create and build expert systems that capture data in a transparent and automatic way, so that the analysis allows users to enhance their decision-making capacity.

We want to give back to citizens the control of their data in order to support biomedical research.

We empower people to make decisions about their own health, based on the evidence provided by data, supported by automated interpretation systems.

If you are not easily discouraged with uncertainty and the unknown, at Foundation29 we are willing to count with your help as volunteer full or part time and/or offer a career opportunity especially in the following domains and typical roles:

- Bioinformatician: Knowledge of genomics, ontologies, graphs (maths), java, python/R and/or others. Understanding of NLP and other AI applications.

- Data Scientist: NLP, Neural networks, Bayesian networks, SVM, clustering techniques. Background in bioinformatics and/or NLP desired.

- Cloud Architect: Azure/AWS. Microservice and Big Data architectures.
