Roger Szulc has worked in the information technology industry for over 20 years. Roger began their career in 2000 as a Desktop Analyst/Systems Administrator at Sage Software. In 2006, they moved to Great Canadian Gaming Corporation as a Network/Systems Administrator. In 2010, they joined MDA as a Systems Security Architect. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as an IT Security and Architecture Consultant at Grey Shield Consulting Inc. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Foundry, a Digital Currency Group Company, as a SecOps Analyst.

Roger Szulc has a long and diverse education history. Roger began their studies in 1997 at Vancouver Community College (VCC) where they earned a diploma in Electronics Technician Common Core Program. In 1999-2000, they attended Northwest Digital Systems (Vancouver) Inc, where they completed a Network Integration Specialist Program. In 2001, they studied COMP 1030 - Working with Linux - Basics at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. The following year, they completed COMP 1032 - Working with Linux - Intermediate at the same institution. In 2004, they attended Polar Bear Corporate Education Solutions and earned a Course 2279B - Planning, Implementing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure certification. In 2005, they earned a Course 2400B Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 certification from Polar Bear Corporate Education Solutions. In 2010, they studied VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V4] at VMWare and earned a Microsoft MCITP Enterprise Administrator certification in 2010-2011. In 2011, they attended SANS Seattle 2011 and earned a GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) certification. Roger then studied SANS Self Study and earned a GIAC Certified Windows Security Administrator (GCWN) certification in 2012. In 2013, they attended SANS Orlando 2013 and earned a GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE) certification. In 2015, they attended SANS Scottsdale 2015 and earned a GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) certification. In 2016, they attended SANS Network Security 2016 and earned a GIAC Certified UNIX Security Administrator (GCUX) certification. In 2017, they attended SANS Security West 2017 and earned a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification. Roger most recently attended Community SANS Vancouver in 2019.
